Here's one from Brian Rathbone called Call of the Herald, it's book one of the Godsland series, so if you haven't had a chance to read it...
It's been likened to a cross between Eragon (which I adored), Terry Brooks 'Shanara' series (which is still one of my all time favorites), and Tolkeins' 'Lord of the Rings' (this was my introduction into this genre in the first instance, so lots of good memories here).
Get it here at Amazon.
My advice? If you're uncertain, click the 'Try it first' and have a read, BUT make sure you read past the prologue and into the first chapter. As with many books, the prologue is not the story - I know, that's why it's called a prologue. I know of many a person that has been put of by a book because of the prologue, and in this instance I highly recommend you read the first chapter.
Would love to get your feedback on this one, either way, so let me know what you think.
As ever, enjoy!
